Philadelphia 76ers News: Jahlil Okafor Ready To Handle Expectations; Ranked As Consensus ROY

The Philadelphia 76ers are considered as a promising young team but in no way are they ready to compete for a playoff spot.

But, looking on the bright side, they have two of the most talented young centers in Nerlens Noel and 2015 3rd pick Jahlil Okafor. They also have injured center Joel Embiid that will probably be ready to go the season after this.

But, all eyes will be on Jahlil Okafor who is touted as the most polished prospect in the league right now and the rookie said that he is more than ready to take on expectations. Via Gary Washburn of the Boston Globe asked.

"I am ready [for the challenge]," said Okafor. "I was the No. 1 player in high school so I went through that attention. I went to Duke University, one of the bigger schools in the country, and won a national championship. I'm used to attention and I think I'll handle it fine."

Also, his co-rookies see him as the consensus rookie of the year by taking home 41.9% of the votes.

"The 19-year-old is the favorite for Rookie of the Year according to Las Vegas oddsmakers, and the pool of 36 rookies surveyed agreed with that assertion. Okafor commanded 41.9% of the vote amongst his peers when asked who they believed would take home the honor in 2015-16, with #2 vote-getter Stanley Johnson coming in at just 19.4%. Top pick Karl Towns came in third at 12.9%, and second-overall pick D'Angelo Russell tied with Emmanuel Mudiay (#7 pick) at 9.7%," as stated in NBA official website.

In other news, they are signing high-flying forward J.P. Tokoto and point guard Kendall Marshall.
