Jordan Clarkson Gilas News: LA Laker Guard Out Of PH Roster; What’s The Reason?

Just when Filipino fans thought that they will finally see Fil-Am Jordan Clarkson play alongside their countries' top talents, the schedule were simply impossible for both sides.

Although initial reports indicated that Clarkson will be able to suit up for Gilas Pilipinas for at least three games, the schedule for the LA Lakers training camp and media day will be around the same time the Gilas team will compete in the tourney.

"The Los Angeles Lakers management has allowed Jordan Clarkson to play for the Gilas Pilipinas team as long as it will not conflict with the schedule of the NBA," the Samahang Basketbol ng Pilipinas said in its announcement of the 12 players participating in the FIBA Asia Championship.

"Unfortunately under this limitation, Jordan Clarkson can only participate in the elimination phase of the tournament. This scheduling issue is distinct only to the FIBA Asia Zone, and it does not occur in the other FIBA Zones," as stated via ABS-CBN News.

"We did all that we could to have Jordan Clarkson join Gilas for the 2015 FIBA Asia Championship but we are saddened to report that we are not able to beat the deadline to secure the necessary clearances on time," the SBP said. "Although we pushed the boundaries whenever possible, this process cannot be rushed if it were to be done properly."

Nevertheless, Clarkson can still be eligible to play for future tourneys for the Philippines but he will just have to watch from a far for the meantime.

Here's the list of the players competing at the FIBA Asia 2015: Calvin Abueva, Andray Blatche, Ranidel De Ocampo, Matt Ganuelas-Rosser, Dondon Hontiveros, JC Intal, Gabe Norwood, Marc Pingris, Terrence Romeo, Asi Taulava, Sonny Thoss and Jason Castro.
