Jake Gyllenhaal is apparently not dating Dakota Johnson and has reportedly been enjoying Charlize Theron's company instead after her split with Sean Penn.

According to a report on OK! Magazine, the apparent romance began just last month when they were spotted dining together in Los Angeles. It was even mentioned that the actress reportedly loved the new company as the "Southpaw" actor was very different from her last relationship.

"Jake was touching her hand and smiling, making her laugh," an onlooker revealed. "Their chemistry was obvious."

"There's always been attraction, but the timing was never right," the insider added. "The romance is fresh, but they are having a blast so far."

The Jake Gyllenhaal Charlize Theron dating rumors surfaced just at the same time that the "Southpaw" actor was linked as well to Dakota Johnson.

As reported by Radar Online, Gyllenhaal was linked to the "Fifty Shades of Grey" actress in 2011 and they were recently spotted together in a bar in Los Angeles.

"Jake and Dakota were accompanied at their table by different people throughout the night - including the owner of the bar [that's] so inaccessible to the public that it doesn't even have a name," an insider said. "They left the venue through separate exits, Johnson out the front and Gyllenhaal via a back door."

Theron, on the other hand, split with Sean Penn last June after two years of dating as reported by People. Although the Oscar-winning actress have not addressed the split, she has since adopted a baby girl. Penn's daughter Dylan, meanwhile, has shared that his father was okay.

"He's great," Dylan Penn said when asked last month about her father's recent breakup. "I saw him last night." 

Jake Gyllenhaal and Charlize Theron have not personally spoken up on the rumors linking them to each other. But as reported by Gossip Cop, the "Southpaw" actor's representative has denied it.
