Rosin bag explodes all over Pittsburgh Pirates pitcher A.J. Burnett during Monday’s game against the Chicago Cubs on Opening Day. However if it was indeed an April Fool’s joke no one has claimed responsibility yet.

Burnett picked up the rosin bag as he was circling the mound and tried to tap it against his body, however it instead exploded to a burst of white powder, surprising the pitcher.

“If so, it was a pretty good one,” Burnett said. “That’s my day: One (bad) pitch (for a two-run homer by Anthony Rizzo) and the rosin bag.”

In the first Opening Day start of his career, Burnett gave up three runs on six hits in 5 2/3 innings and struck out 10 batters, however took the loss as the Pirates fell 3-1.
