2NE1's Sandara Park To Star In KBS Drama 'Missing Korea' Opposite Kim Jeong Hoon

Sandara Park - also known as 2NE1's Dara - is on an acting hot streak with confirmation that she will star the KBS romantic comedy Missing Korea.

Dara will play the role of Miss Korea's North Korean representative, reports fan site Oh Dara, in a fictional future where North Korea and South Korea are actively working towards re-unification.

The show explores the warmer relationship between the two sides that leads to the hosting of the first-ever North-South Joint Miss Korea pageant to decide the unified country's most beautiful woman and representative to the world pageant stage.

After its initial run on KBS, Missing Korea will reportedly then air as a web drama.

Oh Dara reports that in preparation for the role, Dara has been practicing the North Korean dialect to ensure an accurate portrayal of her role.

Kim Jeong Hoon has been also cast to serve as Dara's male lead in the drama, playing as the pageant's head organizer.

The airing of the drama was timed to coincide with real-life events related to improving North and South Korean relations, according to the KBS production team.

"October, which is around the time when Missing Korea will be broadcast, is when inter-Korean reunions of separated North and South Korean families will be taking place at Mt. Kumgang," the production crew reportedly said. "We hope this drama will send a meaningful message that will be a forum for diverse exchange of inter-Korean relations in the future."

Dara's star turn in Missing Korea is the latest in a fast-growing string of lead actress roles, including for the two web dramas Dr. Ian and We Broke Up.
