“Penarium” on Playstation 4 is the first title coming from the developer Self Made Miracle.

Playstation 4’s “Penarium” is created in a 2D style and is an arena arcade game that is coming to Sony’s gaming console on Sept. 22 in Europe and North America. Game versions for Xbox One and PC will be launched with a free trial and the full game would cost a very reasonable $10 as reported on Destructoid.

According to Playstation Lifestyle, the developer wanted to create a challenging single-screen platformer with tight controls. This would make the whole gameplay more interesting plus the game also has a number of modes to choose from.

The description of the so-called “sadistic” game is posted on Steam, it says “ ‘Penarium’ is sent in a sinister circus arena, where contestants, much like the Gladiators of old, are forced to entertain a sadistic crowd.”

Players take control of Willy and must survive the arena. He is forced to run, jump, dodge and avoid a wide array of terrifying death traps in an effort to survive and to hopefully see his family once again.

On Playstation 4’s “Penarium” there is the Arcade Mode that is endless and allows players to compete against friends and other players around the world, the Campaign mode that has 30 challenges in three different arenas and a co-op mode for two players who want to either go into a co-operative game or a competitive game.

A launch trailer of the game was released and showed various clips of Willy in action. While the whole point of the game is to survive, it tends to be a little bit unsettling when the concept of a sadistic circus kicks in every time he dies in action.
