'Five Nights At Freddy's 5' Rumors Debunked, Creator Scott Cawthon Promises 'FNAF World' RPG Instead

Some fans have theorized since the beginning that there would be five games in the "Five Nights at Freddy's' franchise.

That theory always seemed plausible because of the number five always playing a role in the time you spend at the restaurant.

But creator Scott Cawthon is never without surprise, especially given how quickly he churned out each game in the franchise. That being said, Cawthon has confirmed that there will not be a fifth game to continue the seemingly endless lore of "Five Nights at Freddy's." Instead, the game creator will be moving on to a different style of game.

Instead, fans can expect "FNAF World," an RPG starring the many animatronics from the previous games, sometime soon.

Earlier this week on the "Five Nights at Freddy's 4" steam page, Scott Cawthon clarified that in terms of story, the "Five Nights at Freddy's" franchise is over.

"It's very important for me to say again that there will NOT be a Five Nights at Freddy's 5. The story is complete, and the Halloween update and new game will not add to it," said Cawthon.

He had the following to say about the new "FNAF World" RPG:

"The new game that I'm working on will be called FNAF World. It will not be a horror game, but a role playing game where you create a party using the huge selection of characters from the FNaF games, including the classic, withered, toy, phantom, and nightmare versions," explained Cawthon.

Cawthon did not specify when the game might be released, but he did promise a free demo before the game's official debut. As for the game not being in the "horror" genre, the inclusion of the Nightmare animatronics has some fans in disbelief. Then again, the plush animatronics like Plushtrap, Plush Freddy, and Plush Foxy might make for some adorable fun.

"FNAF World" will be released on PC, Android, and iOS.
