'Tokyo Ghoul' Season 3 Release Date Announced, New Season In Production

“Tokyo Ghoul” Season 3 release date is not going to happen this year since there is still the “Tokyo Ghoul” mobile game .

CEO and President of FUNimation Entertainment, Gen Fukunaga announced on Crossmap, “ Ever since we began simulcasting the anime series last year, fans of Tokyo Ghoul have been clamoring for a mobile game. With Season 2 now finished and Season 3 set for 2016, the anticipation for the game has only grown higher. “

There wasn’t an exact “Tokyo Ghoul” Season 3 release date given by Fukunaga but fans of the series will be comforted to know that FUNimation Entertainment is also hard at work producing the next anime series.

On the otherhand, the upcoming “Tokyo Ghoul” mobile game will feature the conflict between CCG (Commission of Counter Ghoul) and human beings. Players will have to choose which side they are on and from there they will have to forge their own paths and deal with the conflicts and obstacles that get in their way, as stated in Siliconera.

The mobile game will be available in English and will be released in 2016 on both Android and Apple devices.

“Tokyo Ghoul” started off as a manga and was well received bringing in 1.6 million estimated sales in Japan alone in 2013. From it’s manga beginnings, the series has expanded to light novels, video games and anime. The anime series in particular has gained popularity, along with the “Tokyo Ghoul” franchise, with its second season premiering in Jan. 2015.

The story follows Ken Kaneki who wakes up from a coma as a half-ghoul after being attacked by his date who happened to be a ghoul. He is taken in by a ghoul group residing at Anteiku and they teach Kaneki how to adjust to his new life as a half- human and half-ghoul.
