'Winds of Winter' Release Date: Spanish Publisher Corroborates Polish Translator’s Claim That Next George R.R. Martin's Book Will Be Out Time For Game Of Thrones Season 6 'Unless Meteorite Falls'

Winds of Winter Release Date: It looks like the "The Winds of Winter" release date rumors are firming up. According to two different leaks, the sixth book in the "A Song of Ice and Fire" series is set for a 2016 release. There has been no confirmation yet the author George R.R. Martin.

Rumors say George R. R. Martin finished "Winds of Winter" and some translator in Poland is already working on it. Other reports say HBO might have to delay Game of Thrones season 6 because the source material just isn't there yet. A Polish website teased that Michael Jakuszewski is translating the book in Polish. Spanish publisher Alejo Cuervo appeared to corroborate the claim by telling the Australian News Network that "unless a meteorite falls," the book will be shelved in bookstores in 2016.

HBO recently announced that Game Of Thrones, which is based on Martin's A Song of Ice and Fire" series, had its usual time slot, Sunday 9 p.m., taken by the Martin Scorsese/Terence Winter/Mick Jagger rock drama "Vinyl" until April 17.

This might be because "Winds of Winter" is on its way. Rumors say HBO is holding "Game of Thrones" until George R.R. Martin finishes the book.

Martin hasn't been very forthcoming about what will happen in Winds of Winter and Game of Thrones fans want to know whether Jon Snow is really dead or if some red lady is going to breathe new life into the watcher on the wall.

"People ask me how Game of Thrones is gonna end, and I'm not gonna tell them. But I always say to expect something bittersweet in the end," Martin told Cinema Blend.

"I think you need to have some hope. We all yearn for happy endings in a sense. Myself, I'm attracted to the bittersweet ending."

"Game of Thrones" Season 6 is slated to return to the airwaves on April 24, 2016.
