'Star Wars' Fan Daniel Fleetwood Passes Away Days Getting His Dying Wish To See "The Force Awakens"

"Star Wars" Fan Daniel Fleetwood passes away.

"Star Wars" banded together when a terminally ill "Star Wars" fan, Daniel Fleetwood, wished to see "The Force Awakens" before he would pass away. It was his dying wish to see the film when he found out that he was losing his two-year battle to cancer.

According to People, 32-year-old "Star Wars" fan Daniel Fleetwood was diagnosed with spindle cell carcinoma. This type of cancer begins in the skin or in the tissues that line or cover internal organs.

Fleetwood found out that 90 percent of his lungs were filled with tumors and was given two months to live. So he took action and was determined to make his dream of seeing the latest installment on the "Star Wars" film franchise. He started a Twitter campaign using the "#ForceForDaniel" and it went viral.

Even Mark Hamill, who plays Luke Skywalker, and John Boyega, who plays Finn, showed their support by retweeting a news tweet with the hashtag.

E!Online reported that Disney and Lucasfilms heeded his request and granted his dying request.The screening of the unedited version of "The Force Awakens" took place at the Fleetwood residence where his wife shared, "It was an amazing experience."

Unfortunately, Star Wars fan Daniel Fleetwood passed away after fighting against his cancer for so long. His wife confirmed his passing in a Facebook post, " “He passed in his sleep and in peace. He will always be my idol and my hero ... Rest in peace my love.”
