Mnet Responds To Vote Rigging Accusations For Upcoming Asian Music Awards

With many fans criticizing Mnet of favoritism for the upcoming 2015 Asian Music Awards voting system, the company finally opened up with a response.

On Friday, Nov. 20, a representative from Mnet revealed that no manipulation is taking place when it comes to the final results.

"We have created a voting page to prevent illegal votes and we are carefully monitoring them to get the correct results," said the representative, as reported by Soompi.

The representative further explained how the voting works and that possibility of rigging cannot be done.

"Fans can only vote once per day through one account, so it is impossible that someone could vote multiple times for an artist and rig the ballot," the rep added.

Mnet anticipated the possibility of people making multiple accounts to vote, which is why a system was implemented to prevent that.

"It has come to our attention that someone might make multiple accounts under one name to vote countless times for an artist," explained the Mnet rep. "To counteract that, we have set up a CAPTCHA system to prevent one from doing so."

CAPTCHA system is an anti-hacking process that allows users to enter a combination of letters, numbers, and symbols in order to tell that the human is real and not a robot.

The 2015 Mnet Asian Music Awards will be held on Dec. 2 at Hong Kong's Asia World Expo. Tickets are on sale and are priced between $114 and $269. They can be purchased through Hong Kong Ticketing.

Many K-pop stars such as Psy, BigBang, iKON, 2NE1's CL, Park Jin Young, and more are confirmed to attend the music award ceremony.
