'Plants VS. Zombies: Garden Warfare' Reaches 8 Million Player Mark, EA Gives Players 80,000 Coins To Celebrate

"Plants vs. Zombies: Garden Warfare" reaches a milestone.

Ever since the "Plants vs. Zombies" game was created by PopCap Games years ago, the game's popularity didn't die down and continued to flourish. The game then spawned a number of other games and grew into a video game franchise.

The concept of zombies trying to eat human's brains is a concept many are familiar, however, it gets more intersting when plants are made to defend and attack zombies in order to protect their homeowner.

"Plants vs. Zombies: Garden Warfare" was launched in February 2014 and introduced a different concept where multiplayer modes where made to change the whole dynamic. According to IGN, since the game's release it has already passed the 8 million players mark. PopCap Games also reported, that 1.4 billion games have been played since its release with more than 1,600 matches per minute and seven billion zombies exterminated.

While it is definitely a good day for PopCap Games and EA, they decided to extend the celebration of the milestone to all "Garden Warfare" players by handing out 80,000 "Plants vs. Zombies" coins. Gamespot reported that these coins can be spent on a number of different in-game items.

The "Plants vs. Zombies: Garden Warfare" video game can be bought on the EA Official Site, while the sequel "Plants vs. Zombies: Garden Warfare" is available for pre-order on Playstation Store.

Those who pre-order the sequel game will be able to get 14 emoji customization accessories, "Peggle 2," the Grass Effect Pack and the "Plants vs. Zombies: Garden Warfare 2" Pre-Order theme. It will be released on Feb. 23, 2016.

"Plants vs. Zombies: Garden Warfare" is a multiplayer third-person shooter and tower defense game that is already the third game in the "Plants vs. Zombies" series. Players have to take control of the plants or zombies from a third person perspective and either cooperate or go against each other in a multiplayer environment. To advance in the game, players are required to complete unique challenges in order to upgrade, get new characters, new character outfits and weapon skins.
