MAMA 2015: Best New Male And Female Artist Awards Go To iKON And TWICE

2015 Mnet Asian Music Awards are off to a roaring start already!

The most anticipated K-pop award show of the year began with the "Best New Artist" for male and female groups.

"Best New Male Artist" set up an intense battle between YG Entertainment's latest sensation iKON and Pledis Entertainment's instant favorites Seventeen, as well as FNC Entertainment's power band N.Flying, TOP Media rising stars UP10TION, and Starship Entertainment's appropriately named monster group MONSTA X. Although every group is deserving in their own right, it was iKON who took home the award. Unsurprising as the group has been dominating music charts since their warm-up single released in September.

"Best New Female Artist" pit the lovely ladies of WM Entertainment's Oh My Girl, Cube Entertainment's CLC, JYP Entertainment's TWICE, Source Media's GFriend, and Woollim Entertainment's Lovelyz against each other for the rookie award. After a very successful pre-debut program and an even more exciting debut, TWICE walked away with the award.
