Vampire Diaries Season 7 Rumors And News Updates: Nina Dobrev Refuses To Work With Ian Somerhalder, ‘The Vampire Diaries’ Cancellation Soon?

Vampire Diaries' Season 7 Rumors And News Updates: Nina Dobrev won't work with her ex-boyfriend Ian Somerhalder and she doesn't care if that gets "The Vampire Diaries" cancelled. Since Nina Dobrev left TVD, its ratings dropped so fast The CW moved the supernatural drama to a Friday night time slot, considered the True Death slot.

Since moving on from "The Vampire Diaries," Dobrev has been choosing more challenging and darker roles.

Ian Somerhalder agrees with Dobrev about working together on "The Vampire Diaries," the show that brought them together. Somerhalder even reportedly threatened to quit TVD if Nina's character came back from the dead.

Somerhalder said he's been enjoying the freedom TVD's plots now have with Nina Dobrev's departure.

"They [Damon and Elena] were great characters separate, they were great characters together, and they remain great characters separated," Somerhalder recently said in an interview with E! News.

Ratings for "The Vampire Diaries" Season 7 dropped since Damon and Elena were separated by the long sleep. Fans have been waiting for Nina Dobrev to make a comeback.

The "The Vampire Diaries" Season 7 cast agreed with the fans.

"Elena's still a very big part of the story," Paul Wesley, who plays the character of Stefan, told TV Insider. "Her body's in danger in the first few episodes, and Damon is doing everything he can to make sure it stays safe if and when she wakes up."

"The Vampire Diaries" ratings dropped a 33% since Elena was sidelined. Episode 17, "Mommie Dearest," reportedly got the lowest ratings the series at 1.10 million.

Nina Dobrev considers TVD to be like "high school." Bulgarian-Canadian actress graduated and wants to move to the next phase of her career.

"I made the difficult decision last season to leave," Dobrev recently told Interview Magazine.

"I always knew that I'd signed up for a certain amount of time and I fulfilled it, I had a great experience, but everything has to come to an end and this was my time. It's like high school, you do four years and then you move onto the college."

Celebrity Dirty Laundry reports that Somerhalder was one of the reasons why Dobrev didn't want to return to "The Vampire Diaries."

"The Vampire Diaries" airs on CW every Thursday at 8 p.m. but will move to the Friday at 8 p.m. slot starting on January 29, 2016.
