Kelly Nash’s Dangerous Selfie In Fenway Park: Tampa Bay Rays Reporter Narrowly Avoids Baseball To The Head

Kelly Nash, a Tampa Bay Rays reporter, spent Saturday morning in Boston posting selfies on Instagram for her family from the Green Monster in Fenway Park. While scrolling through the different takes, Nash realized she had come very close to getting hit in the head with a baseball.

The Red Sox were holding batting practice before their game against the Houston Astros during Nash's personal photo shoot. She heard her producer yelling "heads up!" a few times but didn't think the balls could hit her.

"None of those balls actually fell close to me so I took my chances turning my back on batting practice for a picture," Nash said. Luckily, she didn't end up getting beaned in the head by a baseball.

Nash will appear on "Good Morning America" this week to talk about the photo.

"I laughed pretty hard when I saw such a surreal picture," Nash said. "I thought, 'You have got to be kidding me.'"

She tweeted that it was her "Most dangerous selfie ever."

Some have expressed skepticism regarding the authenticity of the photo. Edward Brewster verified the photo by posting on her Twitter page: "I was standing 3 ft away when you rushed over and showed me!! So i verify the authenticity!! would love a signed copy of pic!"

Nash joked that her copy of the 1994 film Angels in the Outfield tucked in her purse saved her from injury. "Think the Angels in the Outfield saved me because I brought their DVD with me on the trip?" she tweeted.

Next time Nash might think twice before turning her back to a professional batting practice.
