New Megadeth Album Announced By Dave Mustaine, Band Plans To Bring Original Sound

Dave Mustaine confirms that the new album from Megadeth is coming and that they have all the songs ready for the record.

In line with that, Mustaine revealed in a recent interview with Revolver Magazine how the band initially wanted to bring back the signature thrash sound the metal band has been known for.

He stated how songs in the new Megadeth album would be filled with riffs and the thrash sound most fans of the band were accustomed to.

"There's a lot of riffing going on in there, that's for damn sure," he said. "There's a lot of solos, a lot of pounding drums and bass. I knew from the start that I wanted to go back to my roots, and I wanted to make a thrash record."

"Over the years we've always said, 'We're going back to our roots,'" he said. "But the naysayers, they just want 'Rust In Peace' 20 times, which is never gonna happen."

He also revealed how the songwriting process posed as a challenge for him and the band, as they tried to avoid sounding too similar each time.

"Because I've never written the same song twice," he said. "Unlike a lot of other rock and metal bands that, you know, they rely on a set formula, I try and make the songs all different."

Furthermore, Mustaine also revealed in an interview that was reported by Loud Wire how the band has "upgraded" members even though the group lost Chris Broderick and Shawn Drover, as Angra guitarist Kiko Loureiro and Lamb of God drummer Chris Adler agreed to work on the new Megadeth album.

"My expectations are so incredibly high that I don't know that we'll ever have one of those shows, but as far as did it make me happy?" Mustaine said. "I was completely chuffed."

"In no way is this meant to be offensive to Shawn or Chris, but we've definitely upgraded talent wise, personality wise, friendship wise."
