‘The Vampire Diaries' Latest News: Ian Somerhalder Quits? Imitates Nina Dobrev Exit?

Ian Somerhalder may reportedly follow suit and leave "The Vampire Diaries" just like Nina Dobrev did according to the latest news.

In an item on Celeb Dirty Laundry, it was mentioned that the Damon Salvatore actor's wife, Nikki Reed, has reportedly been urging him to leave the show before it even gets cancelled. In this manner, according to the report, the actor's filmography won't be marred with a firing.

Rumors that the show was in danger of cancellation swirled when it was announced that the vampire TV series will be moved into a new timeslot come 2016. As told by E! Online last month, by Jan. 29, the show will air on the CW at 8pm.

But prior to the latest news on the time slot change and even before season 7 of "The Vampire Diaries" began, there has been gossip as well that Ian Somerhalder may purportedly be leaving the show shortly after Nina Dobrev left.

Back in April, Hollywood Life reported that the Damon Salvatore actor was next in line in apparently leaving the show. But it was said that showrunners will reportedly drag out his story while there's still an audience following it.

"The producers want to move on with the show and continue it, Ian will be next to leave but they want to and will drag it out as long as they can," an insider told the source above.

Ian Somerhalder has yet to address the latest news and rumors about his purported possible exit from "The Vampire Diaries" after Nina Dobrev. But in an interview a few months ago, he shared the joy he felt doing season 7.

"I'm really enjoying this season, because it is somewhat of a departure," the Damon Salvatore actor told The Hollywood Reporter. "There's not going to be ten doppelgängers and all these magic spells. I want to get away from that. I want to get back to the human elements that made people love this show."
