'Mr. Robot' Season 2 Update: Meryl Streep’s Daughter Grace Gummer Joins 'Mr. Robot' Season 2; Rami Malek Discusses Impending Fallout

'Mr. Robot' Season 2 Update: Mr. Robot was one of the surprise television series of 2015. Season 1 of "Mr. Robot" ended on a victorious note for fsociety. Season 2 will continue where the Season 1 finale concluded.

"Look there's definitely a fallout from what happened in season 1 and that will be broached," Rami Malek, a.k.a. Mr. Robot, revealed during the SAG Awards.

"It's kind of sad and disturbing how we've been able to anticipate events that have happened in our culture in the world so I assume that that will continue to happen but you can never predict the future and how distressful it might be, so as much as I think we have the ability to capture that, I hope that we don't, but that would be naive."

Grace Gummer will be joining Mr. Robot season 2 as a series regular. Gummer will play the role of FBI field agent Dominique "Dom" DiPierro, who is investigating the Evil Corp Hack masterminded by Elliot (Rami Malek).

Gummer, daughter of Meryl Streep and sister of Manhattan's Mamie Gummer.

Gummer recently wrapped production on "Confirmation" for HBO Films. She also starred as Nora Ephron in Amazon's newsroom pilot "Good Girls Revolt."

Gummer's previous credits include American Horror Story, Extant, and The Newsroom. Season 2 of Mr. Robot is expected to premiere this summer.

Variety reported that series creator/showrunner Sam Esmail plans to direct all 10 episodes of the show's second season himself.

"Mr. Robot" tells the story of computer hacker Elliot (Rami Malek), who gets involved with ag group of hackers led by Mr. Robot (Christian Slater) who want to bring down tech company E Corp. Mr. Robot, co-stars Portia Doubleday, Carly Chaikin and Martin Wallström. It was created by Sam Esmail who executive produces with Steve Golin and Chad Hamilton.

According to "Mr. Robot" creator Sam Esmail, the next season will be darker than the first one. Slater will return as Mr. Robot and as Edward Alderson, Elliot's long deceased father. "My prerequisite for hiring these guys was that they were a little off, and not completely stable," Esmail said.
