In a recent exclusive interview with OSEN News, YG Entertianment chief Yang Hyun Suk talked about the future of brother-sister duo Akdong Musician, even mentioning their upcoming album.

When asked about Akdong Musician's upcoming album, YG responded, "Akdong Musician's second album has already been completed. We are planning to release it at the beginning of April."

The topic of the male half of the duo, Lee Chan Hyuk, enlisting in the army then came up as well. YG stated, "Not long ago, while discussing the album, Chan Hyuk suddenly told me that he was planning on joining the military after completing promotions for the next album"

"Chan Hyuk said that he would volunteer for the army at the beginning of 2017." YG continued. "He also said that he is planning to join either the Air Force or the Marines."

However, Chan Hyuk also had a special request for the YG CEO. "While I'm in the army, please release a solo album for Suhyun." Suhyun is the female half of Akdong Musician and Chan Hyuk's sister.

The 19-year old Chan Hyuk then further clarified his reasons for joining the military so early. "I want to adapt to a new environment and I believe that experiencing difficulties in the army will help me think up new lyrics easier."

YG also added that Chan Hyuk is firm on his plans to join the army. "In the past few months since we had that conversation, he doesn't seem to have changed his mind at all."

Due to the fact that Akdong Musician may not release music for a few years after their next album, YG is working on all fronts to have a successful promotional period.
