Asus ZenWatch: Will It Be Able To Compete Against The Giants And Gain Popularity?

The world of smartwatches is slowly evolving and there are many tech savvy people who prefer to wear a smart watch compared to a regular watch these days. Let's have a look at the features of Asus ZenWatch and how it features against all its other competitors.

''Total Luxury Never Looked So Good'' is the tagline of this new-generation smartwatch. If we look at the official website, we will get to see the mesmerising designs which are very trendy. The leather strap which is held together by an unique clasp is very trendy. The WI500Q model of this Android Wear-based smartwatch was launched on Nov. 9, 2014.

Android authority named all the brands which will use it as their platform. Techradar talked in details about Google Androidwear. ''Google smartwatches Moto 360, LG G Watch and Samsung Gear Live beat iWatch to the punch'' was the verdict of this article. However, ASUS ZenWatch WI500Q uses the Qualcomm Snapdragon 400 1.2GHz, and is almost as good as the other smartwatches in the same category. With the Android Wear Operating system and 512 MB RAM memory, this watch has the potential to capture the market.

There is a Micro USB on Charging Cradle present on the phone and the battery used is Polymer 1.4Wh. The body of the watch weighs 50 Grams and the strap weighs 25 g. The cover lens has 2.5D curved Corning Gorilla Glass 3 and it is water resistant.

The verge published a review of this watch and mentioned, ''Great looks and Android Wear smarts make for a good smartwatch.'' ''Smartwatches have a pretty bad reputation for being ugly, mini computers that prioritize function far above form'' mentioned the article. ''That's why I'm excited about Asus ZenWatch. The $199.99 Android Wear-powered watch has a slim stainless steel design complemented by a nice brown leather strap, complete with a fancy metal clasp'' clarified the article further.

Since in one end this watch is categorised as better looking than most of the other smartwatches, will it capture the market in the near future? ''Asus talks more about the ZenWatch's heart tracking, and the mood-measurement features that inspired its name, but I don't really care about any of that. This looks like a watch I actually want to wear, regardless of its features'' the article went on praising this watch.

''Survey the field of Android Wear watches available right now, and you'll see a lot of plastic and a lot of rubber. The ZenWatch is refreshingly devoid of either of those materials. It has an attractive brushed stainless steel body with a copper-colored band (Asus calls it "rose gold", but it's more like copper to my eyes) sandwiched between the two layers of plain steel'' justifies the fashion-conscious wearer of smartwatches. The design is unisex and the 320 x 320 pixel AMOLED panel on the 1.63-inch is quite convenient too.

''The ZenWatch's strap is soft tan-colored leather, with a metal deployant clasp. You can quickly swap it for another band if the color or style isn't your fancy. The folding metal clasp is a nice touch: it looks nice, makes the watch easy to take on and off, and doesn't damage the strap the same way that traditional loop clasps do'' the article further clarified. So will this watch be able to give competition to Huawei's elegant and  jewel smartwatches which are a favorite among ladies or Sony Smartwatch which is a favorite one for music and sports lovers.

Samsung Gear S2 too is quite popular among health conscious people and Motorola Moto 360 inspite of its bulky looks has a market. LG Smartwatch Urbane has already become popular among the lovers of sleek designs. YHM has done a comparative study and review of all these watches and the readers may click on the link and read them. So what is the future of Asus ZenWatch? Please share your thoughts.
