The upcoming movie ''Assassin's Creed 2'' is all set to hit the cinemas on Dec. 21, 2016. The fans have a mixed reaction about this movie's success.

The plot of the movie is set in 15th century Spain. ''The film, which aims to tell a new story set within the mythology of the Assassin's Creed series but with a new set of main characters, stars Fassbender as a modern day man who uses ultra-advanced technology to enter a simulation of the "genetic memories" of his ancestor, a 15th century Spaniard named Aguilar de Nerha - a member of an ancient justice-seeking guild of Assassins waging endless war against The Templars amid the tumult of The Spanish Inquisition'' clarified Screen Rant.

''Animus will be heavily utilized as a plot device throughout the film. Animus, in the games, is a machine in the modern age which is hooked up to a direct descendant of one of the Assassins. Accordingly, Animus enables him to live through his past in the time period he existed in previously'' clarified cheat sheet.

Even though the industry is not sure about the success of this movie, actor and producer Michael Fassbender is all gung-ho about its probable success. "We're striving to find something special. We believe the whole concept around it is special and want to service that the best we can. The fans are really passionate: very specific and they expect accuracy and historical detail. We're really trying to capitalize and feed on and enjoy the fun element. We're working hard to make this something special," Fassbender said in an interview with Entertainment Weekly.

''Director Justin Kurzel's forthcoming action-adventure story stars Fassbender and Marion Cotillard - the three of whom worked together previously on last year's critically acclaimed MacBeth. Fassbender plays Callum Lynch, a man who discovers that he's the descendant of a secretive society of deadly assassins, who are at war with the Knights Templar. Through a machine, Lynch becomes able to tap into the memories of his ancestor Aguilar, an assassin in 15th century Spain. Commanding his ancestor's incredible skills, ability, and knowledge, Lynch sets forth to take on the Knights Templar in the present'' clarified Tracking Board.

So if the credentials of this upcoming movie are to be seen, they are A-lister. However, since the video game was going through many hiccups and the developers Ubisoft had put it on hold, there are concerns hovering around the success of this movie. Only time will tell the truth.
