'Shenmue 4' Already In The Works? 'Shenmue 3' Creator Yu Suzuki Reveals Plans

"Shenmue 3," which was announced during the recently concluded E3 2015 has just broken Guiness World record by reaching its funding target within nine hours, IGN reported.

And while gamers are still going crazy over the open world action adventure game of Yu Suzuki, there have been reports that the Japanes game designer-director-producer is already thinking about "Shenmue 4."

According Yu Suzuki during his participation for a Reddit AMA, there are already plans for the original Sega Dreamcast game to expand to a total of five games.

"There are a total of 11 chapters that make up the whole story," he said. "Over the past 14 years I originally planned for there to four or five games to the series. If at all possible, I would still like to realize the full story of 11 chapters."

While the first chapter of Shenmue was told in the original game for Dreamcast, chapters two was told in a manga called "Shenmue II." The series spanned to chapters three to five, which will most likely be completed only with a fourth and fifth game.

Ang while "Shenmue 4" is just a mere plan, Yu Suziki gamely shared details of the third installment's gameplay since many gamers were confused with the gameplay teaser from their Kickstarter page.

"They are new systems, so naturally they need new names," Suzuki wrote. "The Rapport System will govern changes in Shenhua's actions depending on your conversations with or actions towards her. The 'Character Perspective System' will highlight different characters personalities as they go through the story."

Suzuki's Shenume 3 Kickstarter went live during Sony's E3 2015 press conference.

It has immediately raised $3.5 million income, surpassing the studio's goal of $2 million.

"We are balancing our ambitions for a grand sequel with the pragmatic realities of developing a game of this scale," Yuzuki wrote. "It will not be easy, but I have dreamed of making this sequel for 14 years - it is time to bring Shenmue back! And to make it come true, it will need the love and support from each and every one of you!"
