Episode 8 of JTBC's drama “My Wife is Having an Affair” emphasized the focus on family as the most important thing in a relationship between husband and wife.

“My Wife is Having an Affair” Episode 8 delivered a serious message about the importance of family. The drama slowly escalated its story to emphasize such focus amid the affair between Soo-Yeon and Michael.

Adapted from Japanese drama with a similar title, “My Wife is Having an Affair” began as a romantic comedy with a serious topic - infidelity. It isn't easy for director Kim Seok-Yoon to craft a delicate story into a drama that conveys such a message in an entertaining manner. Kim’s ability to direct the drama is supported by his talented cast members, who carried on with their important roles well. Highly-acclaimed actor and actress Lee Sun-Kyun and Song Ji-Hyo both delivered a stellar performance in the drama.

One of the intense scenes in Episode 8 is the conversation between Hyun-Woo (Lee) and his wife Soo-Yeon (Song) in their house’s dining room, which also attracted the attention of  Asiae. Song was able to portray a woman who keeps her troubles to juggle between work and household chores. Lee, however, embodied a husband who doesn't know anything about his wife’s internal conflict.

In Episode 8, Hyun-Woo had an encounter with his first love in college, Joon-He. She owns a coffee shop and was recently divorced. Hyun-Woo took the time to visit her and they talked.

In their second conversation, Joon-Hee asked Hyun-Woo to stop seeing her. This brings Hyun-Woo back to the reality of his family. Meanwhile, Soo-Yeon found out about her husband’s liaisons through a social media post.

The audience received the turn of events in “My Wife is Having an Affair” Episode 8 favorably, as inferrable through its surge in viewership ratings, Seoul Daily News has reported. The drama, which aired on cable TV, reached 4.1% in the Seoul metropolitan area, based on AGB Nielsen Korea.
