tvN drama ‘Goblin’ breaks the record in its premiere; Turner Asia Pacific will air the drama for Asian viewers
“Goblin” made a huge success in its first week premiere and surpass expectation. Meanwhile Tuerner Asia Pacific has purchase the rights to air the drama for viewers in Hong Kong, Singapore, Malaysia and Indonesia.
The drama has broken the record in viewership ratings. It scored the highest ratings of the tvN drama according to Seoul Daily News.
Its second episode even scored higher, climbing 1.4% in the TnMS rating and 1.6% in the AGB Nielsen Korea. In average, “Goblin,” which has a working title “Guardian: The Lonely and Great God” scored 7.1% in AGB Nielsen and 7.4% in TnMS.
Viewers in Asia will also be able to watch the drama within 24 hours of broadcast from Korea. According to Broadway World, Turner Asia Pacific has purchased the right to air the drama in its Oh!K channel in Hong Kong, Singapore, Malaysia and Indonesia.
“Goblin” is one of the most anticipated dramas this season. Two strong actors Gong-Yoo and Lee Dong-Wook play with young actress Kim Go-Eun and Yoo In-Na. Interestingly, the plot does not put them in complicated love triangle like most Korean drama.
First episode of drama “Goblin” explained how Kim-Shin become a goblin. The story moves back and forth from ancient time to the present time. Kim Shin is the fearless general in ancient time whose popularity makes the king afraid. The king had him murdered with his own sword, and so is his sister the queen.
As Kim-Shin was left in the field after his death. The gods resurrected him Kim Shin and granted him immortality due to his swords that killed him has also killed thousands of people. He will end his immortality when his bride withdraw the sword from his chest.
The bride is played by young actress Kim Go-eun. The story of “Guardian: The Lonely and Great God” will become complicated, because the bride is destined to die by Grim Reaper (Lee). In the first attempt to take her life when she was a child, Grim Reaper failed because her grandmother demanded to see her death mark.
