Five Fun Facts About Lee Jin Wook

After watching actor Lee Jin Wook wrap up the dramatic conclusion of his series "Nine: Nine Time Travels," you may want to know more about him. Here are a few fun facts.

1. Lee was studying environmental engineering at Cheongju University when he decided to become an actor. Since then he has played a stalker, a baseball player, a private investigator, an airport employee, a president's son, a plastic surgeon and in his most recent role a time-traveling news anchorman. Although he chose to study engineering there may have been some foreshadowing that he would be an actor.

"As a child my parents told me I had so many different facial expressions and now that I am grown-up I can see that it's beneficial to be able to display diverse expressions," said Lee.

He wants to play all sorts of characters and keep growing as an actor.

2. He buddied around with several fellow actors while in the army. Enlisting in 2009, he was discharged in 2011, after serving 22 months with the Defense Media Agency. Fittingly, his comeback project was appearing in "Myung Wol the Spy," in which he played a North Korean spy.

Before departing the army, he hugged fellow celebrities Lee Dong Gun, Kim Ji Suk and Jun Ki. He and army buddy Lee Dong Wook went on to model a bromance magazine spread for InStyle magazine.

3. He dated Choi Ji Woo, who was six years older than him. Choi, who is famous for starring in "Winter Sonata" and met Lee while filming the drama "Air City" in 2007. They dated for more than three years before breaking up.

4. Lee's biggest fan may be SISTAR's Hyorin. On an episode of the SBS show "Strong Heart," she expressed her interest in him by serenading him with a cover of Beyonce's song, "Love on Top."

"I have liked Lee Jin Wook since I was in junior high," said Hyorin. When she approached him after the song, he blushed with embarrassment but ultimately kept his calm. He hugged her warmly after the performance.

5. Lee is not shy about expressing his own fandom especially when it comes to the younger actors that he works with.

The actor recently sent out a message saying that he was proud of his "Nine: Nine Time Travels" co-star, ZE:A's Park Hyung Sik. He texted the young star with the compliments, "Our Hyung Sik is so good looking! Always fighting! When I see you on screen I'm very proud that you are playing the younger version of me."
