Will The Wonder Girls Finally Depart From JYP Entertainment?

Rumors have been circulating that the Wonder Girls are planning on departing from JYP Entertainment and are currently looking for other agencies.

It is no secret that the Wonder Girls' contract with JYP Entertainment is coming to an end this month of January and the group, which consists of members Sunmi, Hyerim, Yubin and Yeeun, are said to have been discussing their contract since last year. However, they are still yet to resign from their home agency.

According to Soompi, a source has revealed that some of the girls have been talking to other agencies that were recommended to them by trusted friends and according to a source from one of the said agencies, they are in fact in discussion with one of the members of Wonder Girls.

"It is true that we have been discussing the transfer of one of the Wonder Girls into our company but since they still are under their current contract which makes it difficult for us to reveal anything as of yet." The source said.

"One of the members is looking for an agency that would be able to render their support to her musical prowess while there is also a member who is looking to become an actress and an MC and is looking for a company that would help her branch into those fields." A different source that is close to one of the members revealed, as reported by Allkpop.

Wonder Girls have just celebrated their 10th anniversary and has been with JYP Entertainment since their formation. From their debut, the girls instantly became one of the biggest names in K-pop and they are also the first k-pop group to enter the Billboard Hot 100 with their hit single "Nobody" which charted at no. 76 back in 2009. Through the Wonder Girls, a lot of international fans were introduced to k-pop making the group one of the main proponents of the Hallyu wave.

According to JYP Entertainment, they have yet to come to a decision in terms of contract renewals and they deny knowing anything about the members speaking to other agencies.
