Netizen's Upset Over JYP's Recent Act of Culture Appropriation

By Edward Leary | August 18, 2017 06:12 PM EDT

Netizens have recently been pointing the culture appropriation finger at JYP and calling him out after he released photos and individual teasers of his new and youngest trainee.

On August 18th, JYP Entertainment uploaded a photo to their Twitter of a young boy under the group name Boystory - which sounds like a horrible cop out of Girls Story which also featured a group of young girls no older than 10 years of age back in 2010.

The teaser shows images of their member/trainee Book Yang (Shu Yang) sporting dreadlocks, baggy clothing and sports leisure attire. He is also styled to represent the typical Western gang member concept.

Fans felt the trainee was too young to already be exposed to this kind of drama by JYP and have been bringing up the previous trouble that occurred after GOT7's Jackson's controversial Pepsi ad. What do you think of these teaser images? Check out the teaser video down below as well.
