No Leniency, TWICE, Sue the Malicious Commenters, Need Continuous Hardline Response

TWICE has filed a lawsuit against the eight who made malicious comments.

TWICE's agency JYP Entertainment said it had taken legal against commenters as the severity of malicious posts and comments contained defamation, sexual harassment, and personal attacks targeting at TWICE has become extreme. They filed a complaint on Oct 2 to the Gangdong Police Station, Seoul.

JYP added that they expect to continue to file lawsuits against similar cases. It was reiterated that it would continue to take the most stringent legal stance in the future. Concluding, JYP said it would respond forcefully to such actions without any leniency or compromise.

Much supports are being poured in as TWICE declares a hardline response to those who made malicious comments and carrying out legal action without concessions. The reason for the continuing wave of support for the management's strict response is that many K-pop stars and idols have complained of mental and physical health caused by the vicious flow of hate comments.

Malicious comments singling out at K-pop starts have already been pointed out as a social problem many times. Even the sudden passing in the entertainment industry has raised awareness of malicious comments. The deceased K-pop singer suffering from depression due to malicious rumors and comments throughout her life and suspended her entertainment activities due to the problem.

It is not that it has only been a few days before celebrities confess their suffering from malicious comments. Many idol fandoms have been actively working to eradicate spiteful comments by collecting them early on and reporting them to their respective agencies to protect the artists.

K-pop idols who enter the entertainment scene at a relatively young age endure long hours of practice, endless schedules, and intense dieting and are exposed to such nasty comments without taking care of their mental health properly. With this repeated reality, celebrities' concerns about the blind post of their health have become to be even considered a social issue.

The hearts of K-pop stars and family members who have already been hurt cannot be fully readied. Still, firm legal action against such individuals should be carried out continuously. The important thing at this point is to recognize that malicious comments are a dangerous criminal act that inflicts mental pain on someone and uproot them.

That's why the public needs to show support to many K-pop stars' complaints without leniency so that the right cyberculture can be established.
