'R.I.P Lady Gaga': Twitter Kills Someone Different Each Week

"RIP Lady Gaga" became a trending topic on Twitter on Monday, and the top star has become one more victim to celebrity death hoax.

The news of Lady Gaga's death first began circulating on Saturday when a Facebook page named "R.I.P. Lady Gaga" was created.

Many fans believed in the fake death report and showed their honest reactions. A few were doubtful about the news.

The account of Lady Gaga's death that was posted on Facebook said, "At about 11 a.m. ET on Saturday (May 25, 2013), our beloved singer Lady Gaga passed away. Lady Gaga was born on March 28, 1986 in New York. She will be missed but not forgotten. Please show your sympathy and condolences by commenting on and liking this page."

Lady Gaga herself responded to "RIP Lady Gaga" by writing on her twitter, "RIP Lady Gaga? More like RIP your fave's career when I come back with ARTPOP!"

Lady Gaga later deleted her twitter post after a few moments.

The representatives of Lady Gaga released a statement on Sunday addressing the death hoax, saying "She joins the long list of celebrities who have been victimized by this hoax. She's still alive and well, stop believing what you see on the Internet."

As Lady Gaga is indeed alive and well, individuals were angered by the fake reports of her death. @BiebsHeaven said, "I don't really like Gaga, but death is NOT something to joke about. Disrepsectful."

As celebrity death hoaxes on twitter are quite common, one twitter user, @Potteristic said, "RIP Lady Gaga is trending. Oh, Twitter kills more people than Lord Voldemort."

Twitter user @youwontbealone also commented on the new twitter trend, saying, "If you saw the 'RIP Lady Gaga' trend and freaked out then you must be new to Twitter because Twitter kills somebody different every week."
