Wheesung had first been found unconscious in the bathroom of a building in Seoul's Songpa district on the evening of March 31. Regarding illicit drugs, he tested negative and the police suspected he had taken a non-lethal anesthetic.

It was later confirmed that Wheesung, as per the CCTV footage, met with an unidentified man shortly before he was found unresponsive and obtaining a bag that is believed to be carrying the anesthetic.

MBN reported on April 3 that an individual who supplied Wheesung with the anesthetic has been detained by the Seoul Songpa Police Station. The criminal investigation for this case centered on how Wheesung got it as it is not an illegal drug

The Gyeongbuk Provincial Police are also investigating Wheesung's suspected drug trade in December of 2019 in an event in the Province of North Gyeongsang.

The singer is reportedly under investigation in addition to this case for suspicions of alleged criminal use of the medication propofol. The anesthetic Wheesung used is identified as having a similar effect on propofol.

SBS's "8 O'clock News" later on April 3 announced that after consuming an anesthetic, Wheesung was discovered to have passed out again on the evening of April 2.

Wheesung was spotted unconscious at 9:15 P.M. in a hotel bathroom in Seoul's Gwangjin district, according to the report. He was equipped with an anesthetic-containing syringe and bottle and he was escorted to the police precinct.

SBS stated that Wheesung was interrogated only as a character reference in this second case as the anesthetic is not an illicit substance, and the authorities then let him go.

Investigators have also reportedly obtained information that on April 2, Wheesung also withdrew money from an ATM, and are now verifying how the drugs were acquired. On request, specimens of Wheesung were sent to the National Forensic Service for an in-depth examination to evaluate whether or not illegal drugs were collected.

At about the same period as the SBS report, the Wheesung's agency tackled recent incidents for the very first time through a statement. It states that after he came back home from police interrogation, Wheesung was rushed to a hospital, though it does not indicate on which date this occurred.

Read the agency's statement below:

"Hello, this is Realslow Company.

First, during such a tumultuous period, we deeply apologize for causing concern about such disappointing news.

Wheesung was going through a tough time due to the unexpected passing of his wife, a number of deaths of people with whom he had engaged, and tough incidents that he got caught up in the last year.

Passed out in a public restroom the day he was found, Wheesung had abandoned his residence, shut down contact with his family as well, and was located in the bathroom. After that, in a police investigation, he tested negative for illicit drugs nothing more nothing less was suspicious so he went home.

But, when he arrived home, he had severe emotions and had symptoms of depression and panic, which led him into a related hospital. He is now undergoing psychiatric treatment, and he is also taking an active part in the authorities investigation.

He will continue to engage fully in the investigation and it is intended that he will also begin to undergo counseling with his family after the investigation concludes.

Wheesung is genuinely sorry and saddened that he has a negative self-image, regardless of the cause.

We apologize deeply to all for causing the inconvenience."
