Despite hiatus in late 2019, their track, "KILL THIS LOVE," still left a huge impact, especially in the US. Among the groups, BLACKPINK has been capturing the attention of media, with the chance that they could be the first K-pop group to be nominated as Best New Artist.

Last May 2020, they topped the international charts after releasing "Sour Candy," in collaboration with Lady Gaga for her album, "CHROMATICA." Their song is the first track by a K-pop girl group to ever hit the Top 40 roof in Billboard Hot 100.

In addition to this, their recent single "How You Like That?" is killing the game as well, gaining several recognitions despite being a pre-release single. Thus, they could be one of the strongest contenders for the nomination.

As they have been going strong especially in America, they could possibly be one of eight nominees, according to Forbes.
