The hottest girl group in the industry right now is undoubtedly BLACKPINK, and they will be making a special appearance on ABC's late night talk show Jimmy Kimmel Live. The girls will be performing "Lovesick Girls" and will also participate in an interview with the host Jimmy Kimmel through a live video chat. The episode is set to air on October 20, at 11:35 PM local time.

On the Billboard 200 chart, "The Album" debuted at number two with 110,000 units moved, becoming the highest-charting female Korean album and the highest-charting album by an all-female group since Danity Kane's "Welcome to the Dollhouse" in 2008. Elsewhere, The Album reached number one in New Zealand and opened inside the top ten in Australia, Belgium, Germany, Ireland, Lithuania, Norway, Scotland, Slovakia, Sweden, and the United Kingdom.

"THE ALBUM" reached the top of the iTunes album charts in 57 countries worldwide right after the release of the album on the 2nd. Also, it ranked first in the US Billboard 'Artist 100' chart released on the 13th (local time) and was the first K-pop girl group to upload two songs simultaneously on the Billboard main single chart "Hot 100."

The record sales volume is also setting a new record for K-pop girl groups. BLACKPINK's "THE ALBUM" was ranked 2nd on the Billboard's main album chart, 'Billboard 200', and ranked 2nd on the UK official album chart released on the 9th (local time), showing an unrivaled move back and forth across the world's two pop charts.

Critically speaking, Neil Z. Yeung of AllMusic said that the album "overflowing with confidence, Jisoo, Jennie, Rosé, and Lisa conquer each track on The Album with their vocal ability (both singing and rapping) and effortless charm," switching up styles to offer something for every type of fan. Alexis Petridis from the The Guardian praised the album's production calling it a "precision-tooled rap-influenced pop that makes most western artists' efforts in that area seem wan," but critiqued the lack of a "overarching concept." Writing for The Daily Telegraph, Neil McCormick wrote that the tracks "sounds like five different songs tightly packed into one." For Rolling Stone, Tim Chan wrote that "the eight-song set is a slick, confident and wildly entertaining release from the biggest girl group in the world."
