2PM's Nichkhun to Star as the Male Lead in Upcoming Hollywood Film
2PM's Nichkhun will be seen on the silver screen once again!
On November 3, JYP Entertainment announced that the K-Pop idol had been cast as the protagonist of an upcoming Hollywood movie entitled 'Hong Kong Love Story.'
'Hong Kong Love Story' is a romantic comedy with Keoni Waxman as the director. Joining 2PM's Nichkhun in the said film is actor Byron Mann, a Hong Kong-American actor who appeared in the movie titled 'The Big Short' and in Netflix's 'Altered Carbon' and 'Wu Assassins.' Also, Kenneth Tsang will be starring in the film. He is a veteran Hong Kong actor cast in Rush Hour 2 with Jackie Chan and in the James Bond movie 'Die Another Day.'
The forthcoming Hollywood film is said to be based on Byron Mann's actual experiences. Nichkhun and Byron will play the roles of the sons of rich families who will go through twists and turns in Hong Kong, teaching them the true meaning of love and friendship.
Polish rising star Dominika Kachlik will appear as the female protagonist who will test the two male characters' friendship.
Aaron Shersaw, who previously took part in 'Pacific Rim: Uprising' as the project manager, will act as the executive producer in 'Hong Kong Love Story.' The production of the film will start in December.
Last 2018, 2PM's Nichkhun starred in the Thai movie titled 'Brother of The Year," which is a rom-com film that tells the story of a relationship between a loser brother and a successful sister. The idol played one of the lead roles named Moji, the romantic partner of Jane, played by Urassaya Sperbund. Sunny Suwanmethanont plays Chut, who is the brother of Jane.
Apart from movies, the K-Pop artist was also cast in television series since 2010, either a cameo or a character in the web drama. In 2010 and 2011, Nichkhun made his cameo appearance in 'All My Love' and 'Dream High,' respectively. He was also part of 'Arthdal Chronicles,' in which he played the role of Rottip.
His recent project was in Viu's Thai original series titled 'My Bubble Tea,' which was filmed in July 2019 and aired on May 22 this year. Thanks to this show, Nichkhun earned the 'Best Actor in Supporting Role (Thailand)' at the Asian Academy Creative Awards 2020.
On top of that, 2PM's Nichkhun lent his voice in the animated television series of Big Hero 6 for two characters, namely Kei and Aki. The singer is even part of a South Korean quiz variety program called 'Idol on Quiz.'
Meanwhile, when it comes to his music career, the male artist continued his tour - NICHKHUN Premium Solo Concert 2019-2020 'Story of...' - in Tokyo last January 6 and 7. The concert tour started on December 26 and 27 in Osaka last year.
Ahead of his tour, 2PM's Nichkhun released his second mini-album 'Story of...' in Japan. It is composed of six songs, including the Japanese and English versions of the title track with the same name as the mini-album.
