On Friday, Feb. 5, MOMOLAND released their collaboration song with Chromance titled "Wrap Me in Plastic." The song is taking the world by craze with the help of MOMOLAND's new dance challenge! Keep on reading to learn more.

The Release of "Wrap Me in Plastic"

The MLD Entertainment girl group partnered up with Chromance to release a remix version of his song "Wrap Me in Plastic." The original version by Chromance was released back in 2017 and is Chromance's debut song. Since then, the song has been remixed numerous times, the most popular one being the Marcus Layton remix, which has amassed over 45 million streams on Spotify.

Now, MOMOLAND is the newest artist to release a remix of the song. "Wrap Me in Plastic" has received international recognition despite having just been released. German music magazine Musikexpress and major Brazilian media outlet Biariocarioca have dubbed the collaboration as "two world-famous artist meeting," and both publications predicate that the song will become a new challenge craze.

Additionally, a number of major media outlets from various countries, such as in the United States, China, and Indonesia, highlighted the release of "Wrap Me in Plastic," dubbing it a special collaboration between the two parties. Many media outlets have complimented the explosive synergy between the two artists and expressed high expectations over the new dance challenge.

"Wrap Me in Plastic" and the TikTok Craze

"Wrap Me in Plastic" gained popularity in 2020 after it was used in numerous TikTok videos. TikTok is a popular social network site (SNS), where people can post short videos between 15 to 60 seconds.

Through this project, MOMOLAND's version of "Wrap Me in Plastic," which was reconstructed to have Korean-language lyrics and houses MOMOLAND's unique vocals, is expected to gain fame from media around the world. The girls of MOMOLAND have already kicked off the challenge, with the members sharing videos of them dancing to TikTok. If you watch the music video, the girls actually show the TikTok challenge and instructions to the dance there.

As of press time, 1,676 videos with MOMOLAND's sound of "Wrap Me in Plastic" has been posted to the platform. The video with the most views is from MOMOLAND themselves, with over 4.8 million views and 1.1 million likes. However, it should be noted that other users have used uploaded their own sound of the song or used other users. The accompanying hashtag for the challenge, #WrapMeinMomoland, has over 7.1 million views as of the time of writing. Some of the videos are of the dance challenge, while others are fan edits of MOMOLAND or people singing the song.

MOMOLAND is a six-member girl group under MLD Entertainment. The girl group is composed of members Ahin, Jane, JooE, Hyebin, Nancy, and Nayun. Prior to the release of "Wrap Me in Plastic," the girls made a comeback on Nov. 2020 with the single album "Ready or Not," which the title track of the same name. It made headlines after it was revealed that PSY had participated in songwriting for the title track.
