Mnet Draws Scrutiny for Unfair Treatment Towards TXT During 2021 Mnet Asian Music Awards

The Mnet Asian Music Awards (MAMA) took place at 6:00 PM on December 11 (KST). Fourth-generation groups shined both on stage and within the nominations during the event.
However, while many were happy to see their favorite artists and all the binge-worthy performances, the organizers, Mnet, are drawing criticism for their alleged mistreatment of TXT.
Mnet Forgets To Include TXT in MAMA Video Thumbnails
When Mnet uploaded the "BlooM the Sound (Opening Perf.)" video to their YouTube channel, criticisms started to arise. Though the stage features performances from Stray Kids' Hyunjin, ATEEZ's Wooyoung, ITZY's Yehi, aespa's Karina, TXT's Yeonjun and ENHYPEN's Heeseung, the thumbnail only featured Karina, Hyunjin, Wooyoung, Heeseung and Yeji.
Yeonjun was not included in the original thumbnail. However, following the backlash, Mnet edited the thumbnail to include Yeonjun.
A few days after the event, on December 15, Mnet uploaded a "Boy Group Stage Compilation" video. Mnet selected each member from the boy groups that performed at MAMA for the thumbnail.
However, they once again forgot to include TXT and only included ATEEZ, NCT Dream, Wanna One, NCT 127, Stray Kids and ENHYPEN in the thumbnail.
Following the backlash, Mnet edited the thumbnail to include Yeonjun.
Mnet Under Fire for Ruining TXT's Performance During 2021 MAMAs
Mnet was also accused of sabotaging TXT's stage. Not only were the camera angles weird and unable to capture the entire scene that TXT was trying to display, but the lighting also did not give justice to the group's performance.
However, the worst thing is that Mnet played the background music with a delay of a few seconds during TXT's dance break. This caused the dance moves of TXT and the dancers to be a beat too early.
After the performance ended, Big Hit Labels quickly posted a dance practice version of their performance. Many found it strange that the company uploaded the video so quickly. People believe the company uploaded the practice version so that fans could see the complete performance with the music on time and with flattering camera angles.

TXT's backup dancers and choreographers all took to their Instagram Story, complaining about how MAMA handled the performance TXT worked so hard on.
Mnet Slammed for Cutting TXT Soobin's Speech Early
Mnet also drew criticism for cutting Soobin's speech early. When TXT accepted the Bonsang Worldwide Fans' Choice Top 10 award, leader Soobin gave a speech. However, as he was talking, the mic suddenly turned off and background music played, signaling the end of the segment.
Mnet also began dimming the lights despite how TXT was still on stage. Although surprised, Soobin handled it professionally and spoke even louder to finish his speech.
Due to these instances of disrespect, Mnet is being dragged for mistreating TXT. People speculate that Mnet is treating TXT this way because BTS did not attend MAMA this year, which led the organizers to grudge against artists from Big Hit Labels.
One user commented, "This is like a message Mnet is secretly sending to Big Hit. If this continues, MAMA will lose both BTS and TXT."
