While fans were saddened following Jae's withdrawal from Day6 and JYP Entertainment, some expressed they anticipated his departure based on his previous actions and tattoo. 

On January 1, 2022, JYP Entertainment announced that Jae is leaving the band as of December 31, 2021 due to personal reasons, and terminated his exclusive contract with the company.

"We have had in-depth talks with Jae for a long time and after careful discussions, we decided to terminate the exclusive contract in respect of the artist's opinion," the agency stated.

As soon as the news was confirmed, Myday (fandom of Day6) expressed mixed reactions on social media platforms. While numerous fans were heartbroken, some implied that his withdrawal was not shocking as he had apparently showed signs he was leaving.

According to some, Jae, a few months ago, tattooed the word, "1597-211231" on his arm. With speculation that "1597" means September 7, 2015, the debut day of DAY6 - it was predicted that he would leave the team on December 31, 2021.

As expected by the public, Jae declared a break on Twitter as soon as it turned midnight on December 31, saying, "I don't think I'll be able to do DAY6 activities for the time being."

Some then started criticizing Jae for his previous actions, such as being absent from the scheduled studio session without permission and showing no willingness to work. Apparently, Jae revealed on his personal broadcasts that he purposely ignored calls from the company and used his "stomachache" when the company said something.

As his withdrawal became official, the criticism continued within the band's fan base. One said, "I wanted at least the process of going out to be neat," "It's the first time an idol has announced his withdrawal with a tattoo," and "I hope DAY6 will do better without Jae."

Amidst criticism, Jae on his live broadcast reveals his "real plan" after leaving the agency and Day6.

According to the guitarist-singer, he talked about his departure with the other members so he asked My Days to trust his words, or if not his, the remaining Day6 members.

In response, fans now speculate that Jae will only be temporarily leaving Day6 and will reunite with the group later on.

For this to happen, fans went on by guessing that the other members will leave JYP as soon as their contract expired and regroup outside the company, similar to what GOT7 did.
