The original members of SM Rookies Yeri, Herin and Koeun finally reunited! On Red Velvet Yeri's Instagram story, the K-pop idol shared a photo along with the other former trainees which brought a lot of K-pop enthusiasts to tears!

Red Velvet Yeri Updates on Former SM Rookies Koeun and Herin, Their Photo Will Make You Look Back to the Past

On January 5, Yeri, the youngest member of Red Velvet took to her Instagram story to share a photo she took with former SM Rookies Herin and Koeun.

In the released picture, the three personalities who trained and grew up together flaunted their genuine and innocent smiles, which happiness from the appearance of the three people posing freely can be felt just by seeing the photo.

As if the photo was not enough to warm the hearts of her fans and other K-pop enthusiasts, Yeri also wrote the caption,
"I love you, guys. Let's live a shining life. I will always be by your sides."

In response, Koeun as well as Herin reposted Yeri's story and replied, "I love you," and "heart emoji," respectively. As soon as supporters of the three saw the story, they immediately conveyed both their delight and nostalgia through sns.

"I'm crying, I missed them so much," "They grew up really well," "Please perform together once again," "They updated on Hina's birthday," some internet commenters wrote.

For those who can't remember Koeun and Herin, they are former trainees under SM Entertainment which was introduced through SM Rookies.

The group is a pre-debut team that reveals the growth process of SM Entertainment trainees and made their initial debut through music shows and variety programs. The members also showcase their idol skills through song and dance covers.

Currently, Red Velvet's Irene, Seulgi, Wendy Yeri, NCT's Taeil, Johnny, Taeyong, Yuta, Kun, Doyoung, Ten, Winwin, Jungwoo, Lucas, Mark, Xiaojun, Hendery, Jeno, Haechan, Jaemin, YangYang, and aespa NingNing have made their debut through SM Rookies.

At the time Yeri, Herin and Koeun joined SM Rookies in 2015, Red Velvet already debuted in 2014 along with Joy. However, Yeri was added to the member lineup of Red Velvet in March 2015, just a few days after she was formally introduced.

What Happened to SM Rookies Koeun and Herin?

After Red Velvet's debut, fans initially expected a new girl group comprised of Koeun and Herin, along with NingNing who joined them in 2016. Ultimately, they were prospective members of SMNGG but it, unfortunately, didn't happen as the two left just before aespa was introduced.

As of now, Herin, a Korean-British from Manchester, England apparently gave up on her dreams to become an idol and opened up her own YouTube channel, BONJAVENUE instead.

She started her trainee career in 2012 but left SM in 2017. In the same year, she participated in Mnet's "Idol School" in 2017 but didn't make it in the final lineup. Since then, she was not seen in the entertainment industry.

Meanwhile, Koeun started her trainee career in 2011 but left SM in 2020. She trained for about nine years and almost debuted in Red Velvet.

She stayed for another six years, but after not making it in the final lineup of aespa which is her "last chance," she left the entertainment scene as well.
