STAYC Draws Attention for Singing BTS' 'Mikrokosmos' Live on 'Yoo Hee Yeol's Sketchbook'
STAYC is a fourth generation rookie girl group who made their debut back in November 2020 under High Up Entertainment. Since their debut, the six-member group has been drawing attention for not only their talents and music, but also for their interestingly unique hair!
Despite not coming from a well-known company, STAYC is still able to make a name for themselves and become one of the top fourth generation girl groups.
More recently, the "Stereotype" hitmakers are drawing attention for a recent broadcast appearance, in which STAYC made a guest appearance on the March 4 episode of KBS 2TV's music variety program, "Yoo Hee Yeol's Sketchbook."

During their appearance, STAYC performed their new release "RUN2U" live, while chatting with host Yoo Hee Yeol.
In addition to performing their own songs, STAYC also performed a live cover of BTS' B-side track "Mikrokosmos" from their 2019 mini-album, "Map of the Soul: Persona."

Following the members' performance of "Mikrokosmos," fans and netizens alike poured out praises for the group's cover.
Although STAYC was criticized for their vocal abilities in the past, many complimented the members for their "smooth" singing, and that they were each able to show off their vocal strengths.

In particular, members Yoon, Sieun, Isa, showed off their stable, good vocal tones, and expressing of the song's emotions, with netizens especially praising Sieun for her clear high note.
In addition, netizens also showered member J with praise for her clear tone and emphasis on words during the song's rap portion.
After watching their performance, some comments from netizens read, "Their voices are so perfect. J's rap and Sieun's high notes are amazing," "I am not familiar with the original, but they really showed off their colorful voices in this version and it's really beautiful," "Yoon's high note and the group's harmonies give me goosebumps," and "Their vocals are great. I didn't expect them to have so many vocalists."

Why Did STAYC Cover BTS' 'Mikrokosmos'?
Meanwhile, the six members also explained why they chose to do a cover of "Mikrokosmos," with Isa sharing how moved they were with the song's lyrics.
"We were very moved by the song. And considering the time that we are in, we wanted to sing a song that could move a lot of people and bring them hope and comfort," Isa said.
Sieun added that BTS has three rappers, and as STAYC didn't have that many rappers in their group, they wanted to focus more on their vocals and tried to harmonize with each other more by bringing out their unique harmonies."
