Source Music announced Miyawaki Sakura and Kim Chaewon to debut in a new girl group. Both idols wrote letters for their followers and fans in Instagram.

In Miyawaki Sakura's letter, she relayed the news that she would be pursuing the next chapter of her career with Source Music under HYBE. She apologized for keeping her fans waiting and asked for their love and support. She informs fans that she has been working hard until she can meet the fans once more.

Long time no see! This is Miyawaki Sakura. There is news that I wanted to deliver directly to those who have always given me lots of love, so I am writing this. I am now with Source Music under HYBE. I am sure you have been curious because I have not been using social media, nor have I had any visible activities since last summer. I am sorry I kept you waiting, and thank you so much for your patience. I have been watching the fans who always send me love. I was lonely during the time I could not meet you, but I always felt cheered up when I saw the support sent to me. Most of all, I waited for the day I could tell you this news in person.
Nowadays, the weather is getting warmer, and the season is shifting from winter to spring. Cherry blossom buds bloom when they feel the warmth of spring while shedding the cold of winter. Cherry blossoms can only bloom while experiencing the winter cold. I think this period is like that for me, too. I was able to gain a lot this winter to become a cherry blossom in full bloom in spring. I am preparing hard every day in a good environment, meeting warm staff who stay by me and help me. Miyawaki Sakura's letter surprised many on her fluency in Korean. During her time in IZ*ONE, she was known as the Japanese member who struggled the most with the language. Though she gradually became better, she appeared less fluent than Yabuki Nako, and Honda Hitomi.
