On March 17, it was revealed that Henry had attended an appointing ceremony held at the Mapo Police Station in Seoul. Henry was named as an ambassador for School Violence Prevention.

As an ambassador, Henry will be producing videos and posters to promote the prevention of school violence. This should be in line with the trends among the youth. He will aso be actively carrying out promotional activities by using various social media platforms, as well as, outdoor displays.

On becoming an ambassador for this cause, Henry said, "I love children so much and have made various content with teenagers. It is such a great honor for me to participate in helping prevent school violence in earnest. I will do my best at any given time, in any work that can help all of the students enjoy their school life."

Following news of his new ambassadorship, Korean netizens did not take to the news kindly. They expressed their outrage over it.

According to Korean netizens, they believe Henry is not suitable to be an ambassador due to his recent pro-China activities. This sensitive issue became controversial among Koreans.

Henry Shows Support for China in Various Occasions

Back in October 2021, Henry was heavily criticized by Korean netizens after he was spotted at Chengdu Airport in China wearing a red face mask, decorated with the words "I love China."

Later on, he shared a video of him playing a song called "I love you, China" on the violin. He also shared a message to celebrate Chinese National Day.

Aside from that, Henry had also joined as a judge for the fourth season of the Chinese dance program "Street Dance of China." He is joined by EXO's Lay, UNIQ's Wang Yibo, and fellow former Super Junior-M member Han Geng.

Korean netizens expressed their disappointment with the ambassadorship, with comments reading, "I didn't even know Henry was in South Korea."

"I don't want to see an honorary Chinese."

"It isn't appropriate for a foreigner who supports One China to become an ambassador for Korean police."

"We have to official protest [this decision]," and similar others.

Henry is a Chinese-Canadian singer, born to a Taiwanese mother and a father from Hong Kong. Henry rose to prominence after making his debut as a member of Super Junior's sub-unit Super Junior-M back in 2008. Currently, Henry is actively promoting in both China and South Korea.
