DKZ Jaechan Talks About Group's Album Sales Increase Following 'Semantic Error' Success

Recently, DKZ (formerly DONGKIZ) made a guest appearance on the April 27 broadcast of SBS Power FM's radio show, "Choi Hwa Jeong's Power Time."

During the group's appearance on the show, they talked about their latest single album "Chase Episode 2. Maum" seeing an album sales increase of 100 times, which is significantly greater than the album sales figure generated in their last album release.

Radio host Choi Hwa Jeong asked, "In the first week of its release, your latest album sold 100,000 copies. Your songs are charting well on the music charts outside of Korea as well. Did you expect your album to receive this much love?"

Hearing this, Jaechan smiled and responded, saying, "In the first week of our last album's release, only 1,400 album copies were sold. But it was 100,000 copies this time, so it is a huge difference. I feel like I am living a dream nowadays."

Fellow DKZ member Jonghyeong added, "When I first saw the number '100,000' on the website where we could look at the stats, I thought that there was some sort of error. I was honestly so surprised."

Jaechan on Acting in the BL Drama 'Semantic Error'

Choi Hwa Jeong then asked about Jaechan's drama, "Semantic Error," which undeniably brought popularity and spotlighted DKZ.

"Semantic Error" is a BL (boys love) drama based on the popular webtoon of the same name, and since its premiere, has become one of the most talked about dramas aired this year. Jaechan took a leading role opposite Park Seo Ham.

Regarding his role as Choo Sang Woo in the drama, Jaechan expressed having been nervous with the filming. "I was really nervous before I began filming for the series. I felt pressured to do well, because my character [already] existed in a webtoon before me and I had to portray him like how the readers of the webtoon imagine [the character] to be."

"But I am happy that they love the series now. I am currently busy auditioning for other projects," Jaechan said.

Hearing this, Choi Hwa Jeong then asked the rest of DKZ if they had watched "Semantic Error," to which they all said yes.

Member Kyoungyoon then commented, "I watched the series with Jaechan. I kept going like, 'Is that really you?'"

Meanwhile, DONGKIZ officially changed their name to DKZ and added members Mingyu, Sehyeon, and Giseok to the group's lineup following Wondae's withdrawal. The group released their sixth single album "Chase Episode 2. Maum" back on April 12.
