EXO Chen Trends on Twitter as Fans Pour Praise for Idol's Return

On May 11 KST, EXO's main vocalist Chen made his highly-awaited return on social media following his two-year mandatory military service.

On this day, Chen gifted a heartwarming song for EXO fans, EXO-Ls, on his personal Youtube channel where he uploaded a studio cover of his 2019 release, "Hold You Tight."

The song, which was part of his second mini album "Dear My Dear," contained lyrics that express love and affection, and was dedicated to EXO fans along with Chen giving a short message saying, "I hope for a cozy and warm spring for you."

This also marks the first vocal cover Chen shared in two years since his cover of Park Hyo Shin's song "Breath" released in June 2020.

Soon after the release of his studio cover, Chen immediately began trending on social media. Over on Twitter, EXO-Ls started trending "Chen" and "Jongdae" worldwide, which is the EXO member's birth name.

Along with Chen trending, many fans also poured in their praise for the idol - not only for his new cover, but also for his return!

In fact, the "Hold You Tight" singer has kept away from social media for a while following the news of his marriage to his non-celebrity girlfriend and the birth of his first child back in 2020.

Thus, his return on social media was wholeheartedly welcomed by the fandom who had missed him dearly.

As for Chen's cover of his own song, EXO-Ls couldn't help but gush at his vocals, especially his high notes which proved why he is the main vocalist of the group.

Fans who expressed their excitement for Chen left numerous comments, which read:

"It has been so long. Thank you for singing, Chen."

In addition, following his new Youtube update, Chen's channel gained more than 20,000 new subscribers in just less than two hours. As of now, the video has more than 454,400 views.

For those who missed Chen, the idol is set to headline the HallyuPopfest to be held in London, United Kingdom on July 9 local time, along with fellow EXO member Kai.

In addition, Chen will also be joining SMTOWN's concert in Tokyo, "SMTOWN Live 2022: SMCU Express @ Tokyo," this coming August.
