IN THE LOOP: SEVENTEEN 'HOT,' BLACKPINK Graces Rolling Stone Cover, More of This Week's Hottest in K-Pop

We have now entered the first week of June 2022, and several new songs have been released this past week. With a ton of new songs and news released each day, it could get difficult to try to keep up to date with our favorite K-Pop idols. With that, here is a rundown of some of the K-Pop songs and trending news that were released from May 26 to June 1.

Comebacks and Debuts

Pink Sweat$ and P1Harmony - 'Gotta Get Back'

 On May 26, P1Harmony released their global collaboration with American singer Pink Sweat$ for the digital single "Gotta Get Back." The song is of the R&B and pop genre that combines a cheerful brass on a groovy bass with soft EP sound.

SEVENTEEN - 'HOT'

On May 27, SEVENTEEN returned with their new album "Face The Sun," featuring its lead single "HOT." Composed and written by member Woozi, "HOT" is a hip hop track that showcases SEVENTEEN's will to move forward in their own path confidently.

Super Junior Yesung - 'MONOLOGUE'

More than a year after releasing his fourth mini album "Beautiful Night" in May 2021, Yesung returns with the release of his digital single "MONOLOGUE" on May 29, 2022 as part of the "Refresh Project."

NCT DREAM - 'Beatbox'

On May 30, NCT DREAM dropped their repackaged album "Beatbox," along with the music video for their title of the same name. "Beatbox" is an old school hip hop dance track, which expresses NCT DREAM being able to showcase music that only their group can.

VICTON - 'Stupid O'Clock'

VICTON returned with their seventh mini album "Chaos" on May 31. As part of their album, "Stupid O'Clock" serves as the lead single.

ADORA - 'Trouble? TRAVEL!'

On June 1, former Big Hit Music producer ADORA made her comeback with her pre-release third digital single "Trouble? TRAVEL!"

In the past week, popular culture and music magazine Rolling Stone gradually released their feature on K-Pop stars BLACKPINK, who is gracing the magazine's June 2022 issue. This marks a historic milestone for the group, as BLACKPINK is the first girl group to be featured on the magazine in over two decades, as well as the first Asian girl group and tHe third girl group in Rolling Stone history.

Each of the members also got their own features, and answered numerous questions when they sat down with the magazine for an interview.

Former BIGBANG Member Seungri Sentenced to Prison

On May 26, the Supreme Court announced the ruling for former BIGBANG member Seungri, who faced nine criminal charges, including embezzlement, habitual gambling, prostitution, illegal filming and spreading sexual content, assault, and more. According to the Court, Seungri is guilty on all nine charges, and will face one year and six months in prison.
