Sunmi Praised by Reporters for Latest Appearance Following Attitude Controversy
On June 29, Sunmi held a showcase to commemorate the release of her new digital single "Heart Burn" at Shinhan Play Square in Seogyo-dong, Mapo-gu, Seoul.
On the same day, the Korean media outlet Export News highlighted the latest image of the idol, contrary to what was reported about her in April.
For a brief background, Sunmi was embroiled in a controversy over her attitude two months ago after being suspected of lying to reporters at the airport for a photo shoot.
The reporters complained about how they waited for Sunmi's arrival but she didn't show up . Instead, she came out at a different gate.

At that time, the female idol immediately apologized and explained that she didn't know there will be reporters because it was a personal schedule with her two brothers without her manager.
She genuinely bowed her head on Instagram and wrote:
"I'm sorry. I always looked bright at the airport but was so embarrassed."
Two months later, Sunmi met with reporters at the comeback showcase for the first time after the incident. The female idol drew attention to the atmosphere during the event.
The media outlet described that after performing her new song, Sunmi appeared with a brighter and more energetic appearance than ever.
Export News said:
"At the showcase site, the photo time took a little longer than the usual and while (reporters) actively took photos, Sunmi said, "What should I do more?" (referring to pose)."
The outlet added:
"Sunmi also expresses her gratitude by making a big heart to the reporters, even when she leaves for a while to prepare for the question-and-answer session that followed after the photo shoot."
Sunmi Expresses Gratitude for Reporters for Coining THIS Term for Her
As the showcase continued, the "Gashina" singer couldn't help but take care of the reporters. In particular, she expressed her gratitude to reporters by crediting them for giving her the term "Sunmi-pop."
This term is specifically used to describe the musical spectrum unique only to the singer.
"In fact, reporters gave me the word 'Sunmi-pop.' I said I wanted to make my own genre, but they chose it as "Sunmi-pop." I've been thinking deeply about the definition of this term recently, and I think I can distinguish it from how to express music."
"Even if I make bright and exciting music, there always seems to be a feeling of sadness. It's fresh and bright, but I can feel a cool sensation. I think this is a musical element that is classified as 'Sunmi-pop.'"
At the end of the showcase, Sunmi once again expressed her gratitude to the reporters. Although she had a hard time with the attitude controversy unintentionally raised in April, she completely erased the traces of the past controversy with her unique bold, confident and humble attitude toward the reporters.
