TWICE Nayeon Confesses Worries About Being Misunderstood Due to Her Personality

On June 30, TWICE Nayeon appeared as a special guest on the YouTube channel, "Yong Jin Health Centre." On the show, the female idol particularly confessed her worries about her shy personality.

In the released video, the "POP!" singer opened up:

"I lived without knowing the inconvenience because I only met my close friends. As a soloist, if the program has two parts, I feel like I will die during the first part of the variety show. I feel better in the second part."

Lee Yong Jin agreed to Nayeon having such a personality and conveyed:

"I met her thinking that she was one of the members with a fresh and bouncy (image), but I think if she's kind of awkward, she would be misunderstood. She would be asked, 'Do you not want to do a broadcast today?'"

Nayeon nodded and confessed that she was often misunderstood a lot at the beginning of her debut because of her shy personality.

In fact, the "Candyfloss" singer narrated the time she was criticized due to her facial expressions.

"Since our (debut) song was bright, I get a lot of criticism if I put a bright appearance on stage but have no expression when I'm in the waiting area."

In the past, Nayeon was actually accused of being rude. Haters even assumed she was ignoring members and ONCEs (fandom) because of her cold appearance. She was also criticized for often glaring and has been misunderstood for her gestures.

TWICE Nayeon Reveals True Feelings, Explains Personality

While on the same topic, Nayeon spoke up for herself and explained:

"I don't really care what others think, but the atmosphere is challenging for me. It's suffocating.

 I know that the fans will talk to me a lot when I have a fan signing event, but I'm not good at saying random things and often ends up asking questions."

Nayeon also complained about how hard it is for her to talk about casual topics such as if she had eaten or where she came from.

"Even that, I need to make a lot of effort."

In Nayeon's agony, dancers Gabee and Lee Yong Jin helped Nayeon overcome her shyness by using English exclamations and improvising situational theater.

Nevertheless, she attested to people that she's not a bad nor cold person, saying:

"You can talk to me. I will answer if you talk to me (although it's awkward). I am neither a bad nor a cold person. It just takes a little time."

On the other hand, Nayeon released her solo debut album 'IM NAYEON' on June 24 along with its title track, "POP!"
