Their leader, Karina, first shared her thoughts, saying it was hard for them even though they received positive feedback. The hate they got was enormous too.

She later added that she thought it was good that her members had a strong mentality. However, Karina later found out that they were also having a hard time with the hate that they were receiving.

aespa Pre-Debut Hardships & Struggles

When SM Entertainment announced that they would debut a new girl group, many K-pop fans got excited, but some were angry and sad because it coincided with Red Velvet Irene's attitude issue.

Some fans thought Red Velvet would be replaced and put on the back burner since SM Entertainment would focus on the new girl group. The backlash against aespa only continued after their individual teasers were released, and members began getting embroiled in scandals.

One tmajor scandal concerning Karina's Instagram posts and text. She criticized an SM boy group in the texts, saying they should have debuted first since they aren't getting anywhere. However, the texts were proven to be fabricated and false.

Another rumor about Giselle and Ningning's past came up, saying they were rude kids and did illegal acts as minors. Some people called Giselle a 'nepo' kid, meaning nepotism. This nickname came about since her aunt is a famous reporter.

Many internet users believed she only got into the group because of her aunt's connections to SM Entertainment and Lee Soo Man himself. But, again, none of it was proven true.
