5 K-pop Groups That Had the Fastest Disbandments

K-pop groups disband for various reasons, usually due to contract expirations or not having released new music in a long time. Nevertheless, it is always sad to hear news of a group disbanding. Moreso when a group disbands before they even had the chance to experience being a K-pop group fully. While most groups usually disband after several years, some don't even make it to a year.

With that, here are some of the K-pop groups that had the fastest disbandments in the industry.

1. 1NB - 5 months

1NB

1NB, also known as 1 New Best, was a girl group that debuted under Trivus Entertainment on November 29, 2017. The group consisted of members Leeda, Shinhye, Hajung, Jayeon, and Sojung, with Jungyu parting ways due to personal reasons.

Despite their promising start in the industry after Japanese horror comic artist Junji Ito praised their horror-themed pre-debut song "Stalker," the group ended up disbanding on April 27, 2018, after five months. The reason for their disbandment wasn't revealed.

2. XUM - 9 months

XUM

XUM, short for Xumething Unlimited Move, made their debut on September 24, 2020, with three members from the disbanded group Neon Punch: Baekah, Daeyeon, and Iaan. Before the three members re-debuted as XUM, Neon Punch had disbanded due to the global COVID-19 pandemic.

They eventually re-debuted but also didn't last long and disbanded on June 1, 2021, after only nine months.

3. X1 - 4 months

X1 was a boy group formed through the Mnet survival program "Produce X 101." The group debuted with 11 members on August 27, 2019, and was initially set to promote together for five years. However, the show and its producers were investigated for voting manipulation, which led the group to halt their activities.

After the controversy surrounding the "Produce" series and the unsuccessful negotiation regarding the group's future, X1 eventually disbanded on January 6, 2020. They only promoted for four months together.

4. Kiss&Cry - 7 months

Kiss&Cry

Four-member girl group Kiss&Cry made their debut under Winning Insight Media on January 24, 2014. The group consisted of members Haena, Bohye, Dia, and Yumi. After releasing their digital single "Domino Game," the group was able to make one comeback with "Revenge" in the same year.

However, after Haena left the group following her contract expiration, the group ended up disbanding altogether in August 2014, after just seven months.

5. SOLIA - 5 days

SOLIA made their debut on August 17, 2021, with their digital single "Dream" under Space Music Entertainment. The group consisted of five members, some being former members of the group SIOSIJAK.

However, after just five days of making their debut, SOLIA announced their disbandment on August 22, 2021, due to a conflict of interests. The group made headlines following their disbandment news, becoming the group with the fastest disbandment in K-pop history.
