Reporter Reveals 'Real' Reason of Nam Tae Hyun's Departure From WINNER, YG

Amid the speculations that Nam Tae Hyun took methamphetamine, the real reason for his departure from YG Entertainment is now gaining attention.
The discussion started when Lee Jin Ho, an entertainment reporter turned YouTuber, posted a new video, titled "Nam Tae Hyun's Real Reason for Leaving YG | Yang Hyun Suk's Tears Why?," on August 22.
In the video, Nam Tae Hyun's withdrawal from WINNER and YG Entertainment was re-examined. Lee said:
"Nam Tae Hyun, who made his debut in the music industry as a member of WINNER in 2014, left the group in November 2016. At that time, YG Entertainment let Nam Tae Hyun go without any conditions even though the contract period was five years away, which surprised officials."
However, Nam explained that it was due to his psychological health problems. Because he had to suspend his activities for several months, he later on decided to withdraw from the team. Lee Jin Ho questioned this part:
"Nam Tae Hyun, who said it was so hard, returned to the music industry as South Club two months after leaving WINNER ."
In this regard, Nam Tae Hyun added that there was no bad blood between him, his previous group and YG, saying:
"What I can say for sure... it is not because I made a big mistake or because there was an incident."
Lee Jin Ho then revealed the truth about the incident and claimed that rather than leaving the group, Nam Tae Hyun was actually kicked out of WINNER.
Lee stated:
"When I covered the related content, it was YG who sent Nam Tae Hyun, and I can't talk about anything about it.
But the reason YG sent him out was that Nam Tae Hyun's actions were at an unbearable level. At that time, officials felt the extreme difficulties of taking care of Nam Tae Hyun."
Lee emphasized the rumors and issues surrounding Nam Tae Hyun, such as bringing his girlfriend to WINNER's accommodation. YG, who couldn't endure his personality, eventually decided to let him go.
Nam Tae Hyun Faces Drug Use, Physical Abuse Allegations
After leaving WINNER as its main vocalist and maknae, Nam launched his own band South Club. But his supposed new start turned into a rocky path since he was embroiled in multiple controversies starting in 2017, when he smoked cigarettes in front of fans without considering second-hand smoke that the people at the music festival may suffer.

In 2019, he was also accused of cheating on his former girlfriend singer Jang Jae In (Jane Jang) with a non-celebrity woman.
He has been quietly engaged in music activities for a while, but is once again brought up amid drug use suspicions in August 2022. The issue started when his current girlfriend Seo Min Jae said in a now-deleted post:
"Nam Tae Hyun took meth, the needle he used is either in my room or in my office cabinet. He also hits me."
Seo, however, deleted it and explained she barely remembered what she wrote after taking more than the prescribed amount of medication for her psychological problems. She also revealed that she said those due to a fight with Nam Tae Hyun, but they already reconciled.
The singer also bowed his head:
"I apologize to those who may have been surprised. There was a quarrel between us lovers, but we reconciled well. I sincerely apologize for causing concern to so many people with personal issues.”
