In yesterday's episode of Channel A's "Oh Eun Young's Golden Clinic," former Wonder Girls leader, Sunye, discussed with the famous psychiatrist Dr. Oh Eun Young her departure from the K-pop industry.
According to Sunye, initially, she did not have any thoughts about leaving the group after she got married. However, after her grandfather and father passed away, she had second thoughts.
Her life as an idol was questioned and how she was unhappy due to it. She did become rich and famous but her being a performer does not bring any joy anymore.
Leaving the Wonder Girls was a decision she made after carefully weighing her options and the opinions of the other members plus JYP himself.
She also thought about her influence on people, especially teenagers. How she, as an idol, can influence so many people so she had to be careful of whatever she is doing.
Whenever she performs or gives an interview, the former Wonder Girls leader would always think twice to not give the wrong impression or opinion.
Sunye Clears More Rumors
Sunye also cleared many rumors regarding her withdrawal from the group. When the news about her leaving the group first broke out, many people were mad at her and said words that are hurtful.
She was also being blamed for the long hiatus that the girl group had. However, that is not the case.
According to Sunye, the four other members were preparing to debut as a band even before her departure. She added that
"I thought to myself because I didn't want to hurt the members anymore, I had to reveal my position officially. I wanted to resolve this cleanly, so I gave what the general public wanted from me"
Sunye Now Would Not Have Left Wonder Girls
According to a NAVER article, Dr. Oh Eun Young asked Sunye if her present self would have done the same before.
Sunye answered honestly that she would have continued with the group even if she got married and had kids.
She added that if she continued with the group, she might have probably talked to the fans better and said her piece in a way that will be understood by them.

In the end, she stated that wanted to apologize to the fans.
"If I got the chance, I had wanted to officially apologize [to fans] and say that I was really sorry. It was not my intention - why would I throw away the Wonder Girls? I wanted to say that was never my intention. I'm really sorry for unintentionally hurting you and I hope you understand how I feel."
Fans Feeling Sorry And Understanding Sunye's Situation Now
In theqoo post, many comments are saying that they understand the situation she was in before and why she really left the group.
Many comments are stating their own experience of questioning a life after a family member has passed away.
One comment even stated that a celebrity's job is standing in the public and making them understand their feelings. However, a person cannot always express whatever they feel so there will always be a misunderstanding in between.
