Cha Hyunseung first went viral back in 2018 when he was performing Sunmi's "24 Hours" alongside the female idol at the Waterbom Festival. Because of this, he became known as "Sunmi's tan backup dancer." The two were even rumored to be more than friends because of their chemistry on stage at that time.
Hyunseung went on to gain more fans when he appeared on Netflix's famous reality dating show "Single's Inferno."

In the new episode of "Show!terview with Sunmi," Sunmi and Cha Hyunseung talked about an array of topics, from their viral "24 hours" fancam, shocking DMs he received, their true feelings for each other, and more.
At one point, their dating rumor was brought up. Sunmi said, "There used to be a rumor saying that you and I are dating."

But that's not the only rumor. Cha Hyunseung shared that people often make other assumptions about him. He stated, "There's another rumor... You know, our choreography is kind of explicit."

He then detailed that people thought since their choreography is so intimate, there's no way that he and Sunmi wouldn't catch feelings for each other- unless he isn't straight. So, sometimes, he gets mistaken as gay.

"[They say], 'Considering they've been doing that for years, they must be together. Otherwise, he must not be straight,'" the backup dancer stated.
Cha Hyunseung went on to point out the irony that while Sunmi encourages him to date someone, his relationship with her is actually the reason he can't. So, the female idol is "one of the reasons" he's having a hard time looking for an actual significant other.

"As much as she always tells me to see someone, one of the reasons that I can't see someone is you," he revealed.

Sunmi was naturally shocked after hearing what he said and quickly asked, "Are you blaming me?" She then asked him if he had ever considered her as more than just a friend.

Sunmi asked, "Then let me ask you a question... While there's the rumor, have you ever taken me as more than just a friend?" Before the idol can even finish the question, Cha Hyunseung immediately responded, "Never."
Out of shock, Sunmi stood up from her seat and adorably complained, "Hey! Wait! How could you answer this quickly? How can you answer it even before I finish the question?"

Sunmi to Perform at KCON 2022 Saudi Arabia
In other news, Sunmi will participate at the upcoming KCON 2022 Saudi Arabia. This is the first time that the convention will take place in the country. Sunmi is scheduled to perform on Day 1 of the event on Sept. 30 local time.
